The ancient sage Patanjali brought us Yoga " for the serenity and sanctity of mind, grammar for clarity and purity of speech and medicine for the perfection of health”.
I have practiced Yoga for most of my Life but in Mar 2016 completed 200 hours Yoga Alliance International training as a Hatha Yoga teacher with Sudevi Sundari of Yoga Paramgati (www.yogaparamgati.com).
I offer beginners and regular students of Yoga, Holistic Yoga classes, in which I teach a combination of warm ups, breath work (Pranayama), stretching, strengthening and balancing postures (Asanas), focusing (Dhahrana) and inner reflection (Pratayahara), touching on the 8 Limbs of Yoga. Every class ends with shavasana, a practice of deep relaxation and reflection in which you can enter a state of consciousness between sleep and wakefulness.
Asanas or physical postures are only one of the 8 limbs of Yogic philosophy designed specifically to enable the student to be able to sit comfortably for meditation but also to stimulate, balance and connect every part of our being. When all these elements of Yoga are combined, even in just a 1 hour class, it is possible to feel deeply calm, energised and optimistic.
Many physical and emotional problems can be helped by practicing Yoga regularly including blood pressure and circulatory problems, hormonal imbalance, anxiety, digestive issues, and so on. Yoga is the perfect complement to Homeopathy for maintaining one’s health whatever your age.
Recently I completed a course in teaching Accessible Yoga with Hersha Chellaram, of Yama Foundation, Hong Kong
Whatever limitations you have, whether physical or mental, Accessible Yoga is truly for all.
“I want everyone to be able to access the benefits of Hatha Yoga. Whatever your age, whatever health problems you may have, whatever state of fitness you are in, Yoga can help. Detoxifying, strengthening, stretching, balancing exercises combined with the conscious breath, are immensely beneficial for your whole being. Try it. Come with the courage to be challenged and an open heart and mind. You will not be disappointed.”
